Emmaus Road Study Group...

This is a discussion/study group that seeks new information and new ways of understanding the Christian faith in terms of 21st century thinking and understanding. It is for individuals who wish to deepen their lives of faith and be challenged by new ideas. It attempts to be in tune with the Progressive Christian movement as it emerges in the church today. The Bible is read with an understanding that metaphor and poetry is used as a way of expressing God’s love and involvement in human history.

Discussion in the Emmaus Road Study Group is encouraged and occurs in an open and safe environment in which no individual is criticized or devalued for his or her point of view. Study topics are decided by the group and those topics of interest to the majority of group members are made part of the study schedule.

The facilitator for the group is Dr. Wiley Mangum and on occasion other group members will take leadership responsibilities.
