The first scholarship was awarded by Women's Fellowship in 1974.  It was for $500.00.  In 1994, church supporter, Edwin Dietz, was concerned that students in our local area were not financially able to attend College.  He donated $500,000 with the restriction that the principle must be kept in perpetuity and only the earnings used for scholarships so that local students would be able to attend College and make a better life for themselves.  Since 1974, we have awarded approximately 100 students over $650,000 in scholarships.

The Scholarship Committee works closely with the Guidance Counselor at Lennard High School.  Scholarships in the amount of $2,000 per year for Junior College up to two years and $4,000 per year for University for up to four years are awarded.  We currently have 13 recipients.

Our annual Scholarship Sunday, the first Sunday in June, is when we invite our students and their families and have a former recipient speak at our

Worship Service.  After worship, we have refreshments and the congregation gets to hear from and meet the Scholars.
