Rev. Dr. Timothy W. Shirley ~ Senior Minister


The SouthShore United Church of Christ of Sun CityCenter called the Reverend Dr. Timothy W. Shirley as their Senior Minister on November 17, 2013.


Dr. Timothy W. Shirley is a native of downtown Atlanta. Ordained in 1980, Tim, as he likes to be called, is now in his 24 year as a congregational minister. For the past four years he has served as Senior Pastor of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Big Timber, Montana.  Prior to this position he served churches in Atlanta, Georgia and Louisville,



Tim currently holds standing in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ. Tim earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Mercer University in Atlanta in 1981. He continued his education with a Master of Arts in Christian Education in 1983 from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He earned a Master of Divinity at Southern Seminary in 1985, a Master of Theology from that school in 1987, and a Doctor of Ministry at the McAfee School of Theology, Mercer University, in 2011. Currently he is working on a PHD in Practical Theology through the University of Pretoria, South Africa, (via internet courses) exploring the same curriculum that guided his Doctor of Ministry.


Tim enjoys the outdoors, particularly fishing, but also plays tennis. He also enjoys the arts, particularly music, and is a member of the Recording Academy, members of which nominate and vote on the Grammy Awards.
